BIOGRAPHY | Evelyn is a passionate supporter of breast cancer research. In 1989, she initiated the fundraising drive that established the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s Cancer Center in New York City, which last year tripled in size and provides the most cutting-edge breast cancer prevention, diagnosis and outpatient treatment services. She also co-created the Pink Ribbon, a symbol of survival and hope for breast cancer victims around the world. As Chairman of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), which she founded in 1993, Lauder is committed to funding cancer research; the Foundation has provided more than $290 million in funds to support over 170 researchers throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Lauder says, "If not for BCRF, many of the important advances in [breast cancer] diagnosis and treatment would not have seen the light of day.”
