CHARITY | Susan G. Komen for the Cure Advocacy Alliance
BIOGRAPHY | Karen is a breast cancer survivor who champions women’s cancer research. She serves as Chairman of the Board of the Susan G. Komen Advocacy Alliance, which represents women at all government levels on matters related to women’s cancer research. "The work of the Komen Advocacy Alliance is probably one of the most thrilling things I have ever been involved with,” she says. "Our goal is to be sure that the nearly two billion dollars that has been raised by Komen over the last three decades is invested into treatment, and research and screening protocols remain available to all women who need it.” Karen also is a trustee of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and co-founder of twoAM, an organization that she started with her friend, the late Patty Franchi-Flaherty, to raise awareness and funds for breast and ovarian cancer research.
