CHARITY | DiMenna Children's History Museum
BIOGRAPHY | Diana Roesch DiMenna is a philanthropist who, along with her husband, Joe, has long been an ardent supporter of organizations that serve the arts, education and the needs of children. Chief among these is the DiMenna Children’s History Museum at the New-York Historical Society where Diana was involved in every aspect of building the nation’s first museum dedicated solely to teaching children about their history. “If we want America’s children to be good citizens, good human beings,” she said, “we need to teach them who they are, where they come from and who came before them. We need to help them appreciate the sacrifices that were made by others and to show them the important role they have now in shaping the world going forward. Giving them a respect and reverence for the past puts a value on their future.”
Similarly, Diana took a leadership role in the creation of the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York City.
She is a board member at Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Baryshnikov Arts Center, and has been a long-time supporter of the Harlem Children’s Zone, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The American Museum of Natural History and the Central Park Conservancy. This year, she and Joe were honored by the Ronald McDonald House for their work on behalf of children.
